High Speed Pressure Data

Prior to 1988 - propellant stimulation was a trust me - it works product - with no idea of how it actually works or what pressures were being generated. There was no information on the initial pressure change / time, which is one of the key parameters used in optimizing propellant burn rate. Also, there was no idea of actual burn time - was it milliseconds or seconds, nobody knew.  In 1988, the first electronic, downhole, high speed memory became available.

The downhole pressure data enabled the optimization of propellant burn parameters and validation of the PulsFrac computer model.

Some science was finally added to propellant stimulation.

With pressure data, computer modeling,  and experience (usually learned the hard way) - propellant stimulation has developed into an accepted industry practice.
